Overview: This was a short weekend trip which is only a little more than 1 hour from NYC. Although the facility is not called a Bed and Breakfast, a delicious breakfast is served to guests each morning along with afternoon tea/coffee and home made snacks. The lodging is centered around a circa 1764 Main House that has 10 rooms plus eight unique private cottages/ guest houses. There are views of the Hudson River from many points on the property. The restaurant is a farm-to-table operation called Henry's at the Farm, and the farm is also located on the property. For a more complete review of the restaurant just click on the following link. The last element of this facility is the spa, which provides top service, but be sure to call at least one month ahead of time if you want to get a reservation as it books up quickly. Also did I mention the owner of Buttermilk Falls is also the owner of the Great Jones Spa in New York City.
The Inn: The lodging accommodations can vary considerably, along with commensurate differences in price. Some rooms are tight, as you would expect in an 18th century house. The private cottages and guest houses of course offer considerably more space and amenities. Within the inn there is a spacious living room, WiFi throughout the house and ample parking. Breakfast is offered in a sun room, which opens onto an expansive porch that is also utilized seasonally.
The Spa: The spa offers a full range of massage, facial, body treatment, manicure and pedicure services. Based on the treatments we had, we are sure nobody will be disappointed. Within the spa building, which is separate from the Inn, there is a heated pool and sauna, plus ample lounge seating that even type A personalities can enjoy and relax. Also, the pool area is enclosed on one side with an all glass window wall, which allows those relaxing to gaze upon the Hudson River, even during the dead of winter. Lastly, lunch and Prosecco can also be obtained, not that I would drink any of course.

Other Notable Restaurants: Well it is not a coincidence that The Culinary Institute of America is located a short ride, directly across the river in Hyde Park, explore their restaurants here, but make your reservations well ahead of time.
Other Activities: My wife and I enjoy hiking or bike riding around the New Paltz area. There are many great hiking trails in the area. If you prefer a guided hike, we recommend Edgewood Consulting Services (ECS). We found the ECS guided hikes both challenging and fun. Although our preference is for more rock scrambles, pictured in insert, less challenging hikes are also available. Bikes can be rented in the town of New Paltz, which is s short drive from the Buttermilk Falls Inn. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention the Rock & Snow gear store in New Paltz for those who want to gear-up for everything from the casual hike to serious rock climbing at reasonable prices. If you use Edgewood services you can also get a discount!
